Description

Sanlam Group, through its Glacier division, seeks a Specialist Product Engineer to build high-performing and scalable enterprise-grade applications. The role involves applying critical thinking, design, and problem-solving skills in an agile environment to solve complex technical challenges in areas such as Front End, Back End, and Integration. This position is based at the Glacier Office in Rosebank, Johannesburg, and reports to the Lead Product Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Develop enterprise-grade applications using C# (NET), SQL Server, JavaScript/TypeScript, ReactJs, Jenkins, Kubernetes, RabbitMq, and Git
• Lead or contribute to all development lifecycle phases, from design to deployment
• Develop high-quality software in a test-driven, domain-driven environment
• Design solutions that support scalability, resilience, and repeatability
• Build and maintain sophisticated DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins
• Configure observability tools such as AppDynamics, Instana, and Splunk
• Automate tasks with tools like Docker, Ansible, and Kubernetes
• Debug source code and improve existing feature sets
• Apply unit testing frameworks and manage branching/merging processes for project delivery
• Align development processes with group architecture, security, and infrastructure guidelines
• Conduct reviews and optimize applications for performance and quality

Qualifications

• Relevant IT qualification
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the development lifecycle
• Experience in an agile environment
• Proficiency in C#, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, Groovy, and JSON/YAML
• Strong understanding of relational databases and ETL processes
• Experience in the investments/LISP sector (advantageous)
